Friends of YES

Friends of YES is Manor's connection to the district-wide YES Foundation. There are two main areas of volunteer needs: an overall campus liaison and individual classroom representatives.

Friends of YES Campus Liaisons

2010/11 FOY Campus Liaisons: Tayu Neogy (MAP) and Dine DeMarlie (K-5)

The Friends of YES Campus Liaison helps to coordinate communication distributed through the FOY Classroom Representatives. The Manor School Liaisons (one for K-5 and one for MAP) are a YES supporter and contributor to the annual YES Giving Campaign. Their job is to help identify Friends of YES Classroom Representatives at Manor, and then work with these folks in their effort to share information regarding YES and to encourage the parents in their class to support YES by sending in a pledge donation. All messaging is provided for you.

Responsibilities incude:

  • Help recruit Friends of YES Classroom Representatives for each class on your campus at the beginning of the year (usually some reps are already identified).
  • Coordinate with your Friends of YES Classroom Representatives on how to, and how often to, distribute information.
  • Distribute Friends of YES Classroom Representative packets to all of your Reps at the beginning of the school year (if appropriate).
  • Distribute classroom participation lists to your representatives monthly throughout the school year. These reports are used to send thank you notes to contributing parents and will be sent to you by a YES administrative coordinator.
  • Distribute to your representatives email/hardcopy notes (email/note will be provided) to be distributed by the Reps to their classroom families.  These messages will highlight upcoming YES activities, emphasize the importance of YES programs, and encourage participation by sending in a donation.  These messages may  include information on the following:
    • Music/art demonstrations, Assemblies, Poets in School
    • YES Shop Information
    • YES Events such as Gala or YES Fest
    • Updates on Class Family Giving Participation Rates
  • Brainstorm, where appropriate, with classroom representatives on how to improve participation.
  • Participate in YES campus events (such as Write a Check Days)
  • Advise the board of any feedback (positive & negative) from parents on your campus on YES related issues.
Wan to help out, but concerned you don't know enough about YES to be involved? Don't worry. You have the support of the whole YES Board. If you're interested, please contact the FOY Chair, Lisa Barto (email) or 459-6859.
