Dear Manor Parents:

When my son, Case, started school five years ago, I watched him walk bravely through the door to Room One to begin his new life as a Big Boy, sniffed dried my eyes... and then went for coffee. Woo hoo!! It wasn't until a little later I realized, Gosh, I have a lot of questions.

What should I be doing, I wondered, now that I'm packing lunch instead of changes diapers? What should I expect from our new school (and will they be expecting something from me)? Are there weird, unspoken rules for parents? Who do I go to with questions? Do we have a Parent Club? A master calendar? Bake rules? What will I be expected to pay for? When is Back to School Night? What on Earth is Lap-a-Thon? And WinterFaire and the Science Fair? And the Book Fair? And Birthday Books? And when do I bring birthday treats? One question lead to another and pretty soon ... Gah!

You can certainly gather the answers to most of these (and sooooon many other) questions from your friends, from your teacher, from the PTA website, or even from your child, but I thought it might be handy to have them all collected in one spot for you, right at the beginning of the year, so you can feel a bit more connected to and informed about all the many things that go on around here. I, personally, have found that the more information I have, the happier I am.

This booklet (click on the document to the right to download the PDF) contains a brief description of most of the year's main events, as well as some assembled bits of information about things you might want to know. You don't have to read it all at once. Heck, you don't have to read it at all. I just thought it might be nice.

With Best Wishes for An Awesome Year,

Anne Capron

(Case's Mom)
