How Is PTA Different From YES?
There are distinct differences between Manor PTA and the YES Foundation.
While PTA serves Manor School, the YES Foundation serves the entire Ross Valley School District: Wade Thomas, Brookside Lower and Upper, Manor and White Hill.
YES seeks to fund programs that were cut from the state budget years ago such as art, music, sports, dance and more. Different fundraising activities are done at each of the schools as well as the annual district-wide Gala. The monies raised at the school events are sent to YES (via the PTA). The YES mission: YES believes that meaningful and sustained exposure to the arts and other vibrant programs contributes to the creation of well-rounded and engaged students who are passionate about learning. You can view the YES budget here, which gives you a good idea of the different fundraisers and programs.
Manor PTA provides funding and volunteer help specifically to Manor. The majority of our budget goes to teachers to provide classroom supplies. Other items we provide the school include, P.E. equipment, landscaping, safe-routes-to-school program, community events like our twice yearly BBQs, classroom rugs and bookcases, technology equipment and more. How we spend our monies is decided upon the PTA membership every year.
Manor PTA receives its funding through our WinterFaire event. Per the District Roundtable Agreement, of the monies raised at WinterFaire, Manor PTA keeps $85 per child. The remainder goes to YES. Monies from other fundraisers we do like the Book Fair, Box Tops and Lap-a-Thon also goes to YES. Click here to see our fundraisers.
